Mannington ADURA Max, Rigid, and Flex offer different ways to install a vinyl floor. Max and Rigid float over the prepared surface, with the pieces joined together. Flex is glued down. That choice matters when you are replacing a kitchen floor, connecting several rooms, or deciding how much preparation the project needs.

Carpet & Vacuum Expo carries Mannington flooring. For homeowners in Olney, Potomac, Kensington, and throughout Montgomery County, these three ADURA options are worth comparing before settling on a color.

Start with the construction

Mannington's ADURA range includes several collections. This comparison focuses on Max, Rigid, and Flex:

OptionConstruction and installationWhat to discuss
ADURA MaxFloating floor with an expanded polymer core, called WPC, and an attached padComfort underfoot and sound
ADURA RigidFloating floor with a solid polymer core, called SPC, and an attached padResistance to dents and the room's conditions
ADURA FlexVinyl planks or tiles glued to a prepared surfaceLayout options, cabinet plans, and surface preparation

Keep the collection name on your shortlist alongside the design, color, and product code. A quote that says only “Mannington vinyl” leaves out information you need to compare the work.

ADURA Max: a starting point for comfort and sound

Mannington describes Max as a WPC floor designed for comfort and sound reduction. It comes in wood and tile looks.

If you spend a lot of time standing in the kitchen or want to compare the feel of different hard floors, include Max in the conversation. Ask to handle the samples and discuss how the floor will be installed in your room.

For a condo, bring the building's written sound requirements. A manufacturer's sound claim alone does not establish that a proposed floor meets your association's rules. Our Silver Spring condo flooring checklist covers the questions to settle before ordering.

ADURA Rigid: compare resistance to dents

ADURA Rigid uses an SPC construction. Mannington emphasizes its indentation resistance, which makes it worth discussing when furniture loads and daily activity are concerns.

Explain how you use the room. A dining space with chairs moved every day presents different demands from a spare bedroom. Bring up exercise equipment, rolling furniture, and heavy pieces before choosing a floor so the team can review the product's requirements with you.

ADURA Flex: consider a glued-down layout

ADURA Flex is attached to the surface beneath it with adhesive. Mannington offers wood and tile looks, including tile designs that can be installed with or without grout. Flex also allows layouts such as herringbone.

Mannington identifies long runs through open floor plans as one use for Flex. The actual layout still needs a plan for changes in height and adjoining materials.

Surface preparation deserves attention in the quote. The Flex installation instructions require a properly prepared substrate and the specified adhesive. Roughness beneath the flooring can show through the finished surface. Ask what preparation is included and how unexpected conditions will be handled after removal.

Bring the cabinet plan into the flooring decision

For a kitchen remodel, tell the flooring team whether the cabinets and island will stay, move, or be replaced. The installation sequence can affect your product choice.

For example, the ADURA Max instructions say cabinets and kitchen islands should not be installed on top of that floating floor. Mannington's Flex product guidance allows cabinets on top of the glued-down flooring.

Rigid has its own installation and under-cabinet guidance. Have the installer confirm the applicable instructions for the proposed arrangement before work starts.

Put the cabinet footprint, appliance locations, and adjoining floors on the same sketch. That gives the flooring and kitchen teams a shared plan.

Waterproof flooring still needs a dry, suitable base

Mannington markets these ADURA floors as waterproof. Subfloor moisture remains a separate part of the installation assessment.

The Rigid installation guide requires concrete moisture checks and addresses excessive moisture beneath the flooring. Tell the team about previous leaks or damp areas before selecting a basement floor.

Ask how the surface will be checked, what work is needed before installation, and whether that work is included in the proposal. Those answers help you compare the full project cost.

Compare the finished project in the quote

Once you have a preferred design, ask for a proposal that identifies:

  • The ADURA collection, design, color, and product code.
  • Existing-floor removal and the planned surface preparation.
  • The installation method, including any adhesive or underlayment requirements.
  • Transitions, trim, and any stair work included in the scope.
  • Product availability and the expected installation schedule.

Keep a photo of the sample label with the quote. If you change from one construction to another, have the product and installation details updated together.

Common questions

Questions, answered.

Both are floating vinyl floors. Max uses a WPC core and emphasizes comfort and sound reduction. Rigid uses an SPC core and emphasizes indentation resistance. Compare the exact products alongside the needs of your room.

Flex is glued to a properly prepared surface using Mannington's specified adhesive. Its installation requirements differ from those for Max and Rigid, so identify the collection before comparing installation proposals.

Mannington's installation guides state that both products have attached pads and that additional padding is not recommended. Have the installer identify any other required preparation separately.

Some existing hard-surface floors can remain beneath an approved installation. The chosen collection, condition of the existing floor, surface preparation, and finished height all matter. Have the installer assess the existing tile before assuming removal can be skipped.

ADURA products have scratch-resistant finishes, but furniture and grit can still damage a floor. Mannington's Max care guidance calls for regular sweeping, prompt spill cleanup, and suitable furniture protectors. Follow the care instructions for your selected collection.
