A wood-look floor for a busy household has to earn its place. You want a color that works with the cabinets, a surface suited to daily traffic, and a clear answer about what happens when someone spills a drink.

Mohawk's RevWood laminate range gives you several options to compare. The differences include water protection, surface texture, and how the floor is installed.

Carpet & Vacuum Expo carries Mohawk laminate and helps homeowners in Olney, Potomac, Rockville, and throughout Montgomery County plan their flooring projects. Here are the details to bring into that conversation.

Get to know Mohawk's RevWood range

RevWood is Mohawk's wood-look laminate flooring. If you found a Mohawk floor online, save the collection name and color before visiting a showroom. The brand also sells other flooring types, so “Mohawk flooring” alone leaves a lot to sort out.

Three RevWood families worth comparing are Select, Plus, and Premier. These examples show how their features differ:

RevWood optionManufacturer-listed featuresWhat to compare in person
Select: Boardwalk CollectiveTextured surface and a 10-year limited waterproof warrantyThe finish, grain pattern, and water coverage for your room
Plus: Hampton VillaEmbossed-in-register texture, GenuEdge bevels, and WetProtect with limited lifetime surface and subfloor coverageHow the grain feels and how the plank edges look together
Premier: Eden SpringsSignature texture, GenuEdge bevels, and WetProtect with limited lifetime surface and subfloor coverageThe texture and color variation across several planks

These are examples from Mohawk's catalog. Ask our team which collections, colors, and samples are currently available.

Compare the wood look beyond the color name

An oak or hickory label describes a look, but it doesn't tell you how busy the grain will appear across a room. Ask to see several planks together, especially if you are considering a design with prominent knots or strong color variation.

Hampton Villa's embossed-in-register texture follows the visible grain. Eden Springs uses Mohawk's Signature texture. Compare them under light coming across the surface, then look at how the bevels define each plank.

Bring a cabinet sample or a clear photograph of the adjoining floor. For an open living area, lay your shortlisted samples beside those finishes. A quieter grain may suit a room with patterned furniture; a more varied plank may be the detail you want in a simpler space.

Understand the water protection before choosing a room

Mohawk's waterproof coverage depends on proper installation and care. Its warranty excludes flooding, plumbing accidents, appliance leaks, and moisture beneath the floor. WetProtect subfloor coverage concerns qualifying surface moisture passing through a properly installed joint. See Mohawk's current warranty terms.

For a kitchen or lower level, tell the flooring team about past leaks or dampness before choosing a product. That history helps determine what needs investigating and which floor belongs on your shortlist.

Mohawk's installation instructions allow installation above, on, or below grade when the specified conditions are met. They require subfloor moisture testing and exclude rooms with floor drains or floors with sump pumps. Full wet-warranty coverage also requires the specified perimeter and transition sealing.

Include those details in the installation discussion alongside the color selection.

Ask about pet protection by product

Mohawk's January 2026 warranty lists All Pet Gold stain and scratch protection for RevWood Select, Plus, and Premier. A covered pet scratch involves loss of the design layer visible from standing height under normal household lighting. The terms apply to eligible purchases and include limitations and proration.

Ask to review the warranty supplied with your chosen product. That gives you a more useful basis for comparing floors than a general “pet-friendly” label.

Describe the traffic in your home, too. A dog running through the hallway, dining chairs sliding across the floor, and a rolling desk chair are different everyday uses. Bring them up while comparing materials and planning floor protection.

Confirm what goes beneath the laminate

Attached padding varies by collection. Mohawk currently lists an attached pad on Hampton Villa, while Boardwalk Collective requires separate underlayment.

The installation guide also distinguishes between wood and concrete subfloors. Concrete requires the specified vapor barrier, including beneath products with attached padding. Have the installer identify the complete floor assembly in the quote.

For a project spanning several rooms, discuss doorway transitions and changes in direction before ordering. Mohawk's floating-floor instructions include layout-specific transition requirements. Mark those locations on the plan so you know what the finished rooms will look like.

Our recent Instagram project paired Mohawk laminate throughout the home with a custom stair runner. It offers an example of coordinating a hard floor with carpet on the stairs.

If that combination interests you, bring the post when you visit. We can discuss a laminate selection and runner together, including the colors where the hallway meets the staircase. Our stair-runner planning guide covers width, landings, and pattern placement.
