Often, yes. The first step is checking the floor in person. We look at the board thickness, condition, movement, prior sanding, damaged areas, and the transition into adjoining rooms. If the floor is a good candidate, refinishing can preserve it. If it is not, we explain the installation alternatives.
Start with the building's written rules. Ask about approved materials, sound-control ratings, underlayment, work hours, elevator reservations, loading access, debris removal, and required contractor documents. We then measure the unit and compare products that fit both the room and the building requirements.
The answer depends on moisture, the slab or subfloor, room use, and the feel you want. Waterproof LVP is a common option where moisture exposure is a concern. Carpet can make a dry family room warmer and quieter. We inspect the space before recommending either one, and we do not cover an active moisture problem with a new floor.
You can take samples from either showroom and see them in your own daylight, next to cabinets, paint, furniture, and adjoining floors. During the in-home measure, we can use those samples to confirm color, product direction, transitions, and the installation scope.
